New Trends Ponds in your garden

With the holidays behind us many gardeners are already looking forward to a new year full of amateur or professional gardening. The magazines are full of new ideas and the time to spring clean the garden and to get the outdoor space area ready for a new garden design is nearly here.

The garden designers have predicted a few new trends for the summer of 2007 and there are plenty of ideas that people can pick up from show gardens in their area or from local garden centers where gardens and items are on display. By purchasing just a few new items and plants it is possible to change a garden completely.

Native plants that are often cheaper than more exotic species of plants can make a great difference in any garden and help to give the garden its own new identity. Most native plants don't need as much water or fertilizer as non-native garden plants and this means that gardeners cut costs by simply buying native planting for their new gardens.

Another way for people to spice up their gardens is by installing a garden pond. A pond attracts wildlife and, depending on the size of the water feature of course, no planting is needed where the pond has been placed. BY filling the pond with smaller water plants and a few fish the garden is transformed instantly and a calm and stylish new area has been created with minimum effort, whether people are going for the 'Asian' look or not.
